BRASS

Brass will naturally patina and age overtime when unworn. It will however, stay shiny if you wear your pieces often, as the oil from your skin will keep the brass protected from oxidization.

If you leave your brass pieces out in the open and they start to darken, you can simply use a polish cloth to shine them back up. You can also use a gentle brass cleaning solution if they have been sitting for a while and the cloth can’t reach tight spaces.

A good way to prevent patina is to store in an air tight bag, away from the sun, and in a dry place.

Depending on your body chemistry, brass can also leave black or green colored marks on your skin. Luckily, these marks are harmless and are caused by the copper content in the metal.

PEARLS

Pearls are especially sensitive to ingredients found in cosmetics, perfume, hair spray, hair dye, and dyed/scented soaps, so we recommend putting your pearls on last and taking them off first.

Pearls need a little TLC to ensure they maintain their natural lustre and color. Be sure to take them off while showering or swimming in pools and the ocean.

Pearls love the natural oil from our skin, so wear them often to maintain a lovely glow.

Only clean your pearls with a soft cloth and a little ivory soap.

SILVER

Silver will also naturally tarnish overtime. Just as with brass you can use a soft cloth, or a silver polish cloth to remove the tarnish. If you are constantly wearing your silver pieces they won’t tarnish as quickly, due to the natural oils from your skin.

14KT YELLOW GOLD

Gold is forever. It’s one of the only metals on our planet that does not tarnish. 14kt gold is the most popular karat for jewelry, meaning that it is alloyed with other metals to make it stronger and less scratch resistant. 14kt gold jewelry can be washed with mild soap and water and then wiped down with a soft cloth or polish cloth.

Just because gold is a forever element, doesn’t mean that it’s indestructible. Please remove your gold jewelry if you are doing any heavy lifting or more extreme activities, like high-contact sports that might put unnecessary strain on your jewelry.

Try to avoid wearing your jewelry in chlorinated pools and around harsh chemicals like bleach. These types of chemicals will slowly eat away at the metal, and can ultimately destroy your jewelry.

Please note that everyone’s body chemistry is different, and some gold alloys may react differently on skin, sometimes causing harmless green or blackish marks to appear where the jewelry is being worn.

PLATING

Plating is a semi-permanent coating using 14k yellow gold on your jewelry, Over time it will wear off, leaving the silver exposed. Stay away from sweat and water! Plating will last much longer if you take off before showering, swimming, and before bed. If you would like your jewelry re-plated, we are happy to do it for you for a $15 fee.
